Strange Chinese delicacy of the week 7

We missed out on giving you a new competition on the weekend due to pressure of time and lack of sleep (see yesterday’s post).

The winner of last week was Carlton Hoskins who correctly guessed it was a bag of mushrooms. I am not sure what exact type they are, in case any fungophiles ask, because none of the Chinese guys I asked know the English translation. But they probably taste disgusting like all of their ilk.

Given that no one was able to even get close to guessing what mooncakes¬†were, we thought we would cut you some slack and let you know the answer to this one below. It is a local drink, containing coconut milk, water, some kind of grain, and red and green beans. Sounds very strange but is actually very tasty. And as you don’t have a chance to win a week’s supply, we’ll buy you all one anyway when you arrive. Or you could always try it at home, with baked beans and milk.
