Strange Chinese delicacy of the week 7

We missed out on giving you a new competition on the weekend due to pressure of time and lack of sleep (see yesterday’s post).

The winner of last week was Carlton Hoskins who correctly guessed it was a bag of mushrooms. I am not sure what exact type they are, in case any fungophiles ask, because none of the Chinese guys I asked know the English translation. But they probably taste disgusting like all of their ilk.

Given that no one was able to even get close to guessing what mooncakes were, we thought we would cut you some slack and let you know the answer to this one below. It is a local drink, containing coconut milk, water, some kind of grain, and red and green beans. Sounds very strange but is actually very tasty. And as you don’t have a chance to win a week’s supply, we’ll buy you all one anyway when you arrive. Or you could always try it at home, with baked beans and milk.
