Execution TV

The BBC today has an interesting story about a TV show that interviews murderers just before they are executed.

As China executes more people than any other country, one might expect the interviewer (nicknamed the ‘Beauty with the Beasts’) to be rather busy. There is certainly the appetite for it, with the programme being watched by 40 million people.

TV executives at this moment are trying to work out what the British equivalent of this exploitative, cruel and mediaeval spectacular could be, now that Big Brother has ended.


N.B. For those that recall our last post about state executions, here is a picture of one of the mobile execution vans. I must say I was expecting something a little less bright and breezy, but that’s how they roll here.
